Driver Arrested for Hit and Run in Pennsylvania

In West Chester, Pennsylvania, a 49 year old by the name of Patrick Cassinelli was recently arrested for hit and run.  According to news reports, Cassinelli is a prior DUI offender and had 5 drunk driving convictions prior to his most recent accident.

Cassinelli allegedly hit a 55 year old named Kholboy Kurbonov, a Russian native.  The victim was identified at the hospital after medical professionals found his passport on his body. 

Police told reported that Kurbonov was visiting a friend at an apartment complex when he was hit by Cassinelli at 8:00 PM this past Saturday.  The accident occurred in front of a CVS on U.S 42. 

A few hours after the hit and run, police arrested Cassinelli at his residence.  His arraignment took place this morning and he was officially charged with hit and run.  District Attorneys say that Cassinelli may be facing additional charges pending the results of their investigation.

A judge set Cassinelli's bail amount at $50,000 and he was ordered to wear an electric monitoring device.   At this time, police are trying to determine if Cassinelli was under the influence of alcohol when he struck Kurbonov as he has 5 prior DUI convictions.

Virginia Man Charged with Hit & Run and DUI

In the state of Virginia, a 44 year old man by the name of Cleveland N. Robertson was recently charged with driving under the influence and hit and run.  Yesterday, Robertson allegedly collided with another driver and a state trooper while drunk.  He was traveling in the wrong direction on Interstate 264, according to police.

Virginia State Police learned about the drunk driver after receiving several calls to the dispatch center.  After calls were received, dispatchers sent police to the Interstate at 1:00 AM.  That is when police noticed a 1992 Lexus was traveling on the wrong side of the road.  They watched as the car struck another motorist before they moved in.

According to Virginia State Trooper, L.C. White, he attempted to position his police car along the left lane and the shoulder to prevent the operator of the Lexus from continuing to drive.  However, the driver did not stop.  Instead, he crashed into the police car and continued to drive 100 yards before stopping.

The passenger of the other vehicle escaped the accident with no injuries.  Officer White sustained minor injuries but was not hospitalized.  Robertson was charged with DUI, 2 counts of felony hit and run and driving the wrong way.

A Chicago cop has been arrested on DUI and other criminal charges after he allegedly hit a 13-year-old boy and fled the scene of the accident.

According to police, Richard Bolling, who spent 17 years on the police force, was drinking at a bar before he got into his vehicle to drive home.  While driving at excessive speeds, Bolling hit and killed the boy before he drove away from the scene.

Within minutes of the accident, Bolling was arrested when cops spotted his damaged car driving the wrong way on a one-way street. According to police there was an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. In addition, the father of the slain boy said police told him Bolling failed a field sobriety test, and that he was driving 80 miles per hour.

Bolling now faces charges for DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless homicide.

Today, North Carolina law enforcement reported that they arrested a man who was driving while impaired (DWI) this past Monday.  According to Captain Tad Kepley of the Lexington Police Department, officers arrested the man, Carl Anthony Burrage (36), after he crashed into two vehicles on Fairview Drive.
  
After his arrest, Burrage was charged with two felony counts of hit and run resulting in injury, hit and run failing to stop resulting in property damage, driving while impaired, reckless driving and driving with a revoked license.

Police say the accident occurred this past Monday at around 1:16 PM.  At that time, Burrage was driving his 2004 Ford Taurus when he hit a 1993 Plymouth.  After crashing into the Plymouth, Burrage tried to leave the scene of the accident, which is when he crashed in the second car - a 2007 Ford Sedan.  Witnesses called 911 after they saw the offender strike both vehicles and flee the scene.  Police arrived and were able to catch up with Burrage. 

The drivers of the Plymouth and the Sedan were transported to Lexington Memorial Hospital shortly after the incident.  They sustained injuries, but received prompt treated.
 
At this time, Burrage is being held in the Davidson County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond.  His court DWI date has been set for June 29, 2009.

Man Jailed After DUI Escapade on Golf Course in Colorado

On Wednesday, police in Colorado arrested a Longmont man, who they believe drove through two fences and around the Highland Hills Golf Course while drunk.  The man, 18 year old Victor Ross Parrish, was arrested for drunk driving, hit and run and criminal mischief.

Police report that Parrish was arrested after they found him inside his parked car near the gold course a little past midnight.  Police investigators claim that Parrish drove through a fence on the golf course, through the golf course and then into another fence.  His car was found parked on Fairway Lane.

According to police spokesman, Sgt. Joe Tymkowych, Parissh's car incurred a substantial amount of, "fresh damage, which was consistent with the collisions with the fences on the golf course."  Police also report that the amount of property damage should not exceed $2,000.

Parrish was arrested and held in Weld County Jail and his bond was set at $5,000.

Missouri Police Officer Arrested on 6 Counts, Including DWI

A police officer in Springfield, Missouri is being charged on six counts stemming from two separate crashes that took place within minutes of each other.

Officer Joseph Motte, 54, was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, two counts of possession of a loaded firearm while intoxicated, and two counts of imprudent driving. Motte, 10-year veteran, could lose his badge if found guilty of the charges.

According to police, Motte failed to stop when he struck an 18-wheel truck on I-44. After traveling for seven miles, his car went off the road and struck a cable barrier. At the scene of the second accident emergency workers found a flask and several cans of beer in Motte's car. Police also found two loaded weapons in the vehicle. Furthermore, according to police reports Motte failed a field sobriety test and smelled strongly of alcohol.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Wesley Collins, Motte was incoherent and unsure of his surroundings. Motte asked the paramedics what happened to his car. When the paramedic told him he had been in an accident, Motte said, "No I haven't. Something happened to my windshield."

As of now Motte has remained on active duty while the charges are pending, and was put on paid administrative leave. However, Motte could be taken off paid administrative leave at the conclusion of an internal investigation that is currently ongoing, which is likely to be finished by next week.

"Every time there is an allegation of misconduct on the part of one of our employees, there has to be an investigation process that protects their rights," said Springfield Police Chief Lynn Rowe.
